Police arrest job scam fraudster

KATHMANDU, Jan 14: In a case of cyber crime, police have arrested an individual on the charge of defrauding unemployed youths through online platforms.


A team of police from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division arrested Shiva Khadka, 23, a resident of Jiri Municipality-8, for his alleged involvement in defrauding youths by giving them false hopes of finding lucrative jobs.

According to police, Khadka had created a Facebook account with the name “Job Vacancy” and defrauded youths of anything between Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,500. “The arrestee had given false hopes of finding lucrative jobs to 43 youths. He used to ask the amount from victims through Esewa – a digital payment system,” according to police.


The arrested was absconding after defrauding the youths, said police.


The arrested has been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, for further investigation into the allegations against him.
