KATHMANDU, Feb 21: Responding to complaints filed by two Nepali migrant workers who were abducted in Turkey, police have arrested one of the accused, Om Prakash Kumar Panjiyar, on the charge of defrauding.
The victims Tikaram Bishwakarma and Kiran Magar were sent to Turkey for foreign employment although they reportedly supposed to be sent to Macau as per the agreement with the local agent in Nepal. In Turkey, they were abducted and their families had to pay around Rs 2 million in total as ransom for their release.

The accused Panjiyar, 28, of Baikha-1 in Saptari district, was involved in collecting Rs 650,000 from each of the victims, promising them to provide high-paying job in Macau.
Panjiyar, along with other accused, promised the victims that they would fly them to Macau from New Delhi. However, the victims were left stranded in New Delhi for three months. When the flight was arranged, it was bound for Turkey instead of Macau.
Bishwakarma and Magar had reached Turkey on August 17, 2017. They were abducted on February 4 while they were freed on February 10 after paying the ransom.
Upon being released from the abductors, the duo returned to Nepal and then filed fraud charges against the manpower company that led them astray. Acting on the complaint, Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) had arrested Panjiyar from Kathmandu on Sunday.
CIB is investigating into the matter as a human trafficking case. Kathmandu District Court has remanded the accused in custody for five more days for further investigation.
