Police clueless about Chitwan jewellery shop theft even after 4 days

CHITWAN, Feb 7: Chitwan police has been clueless about the biggest ever jewellery shop robbery that took place on Thursday night near Shahid Chowk in Narayangadh.

CHITWAN, Feb 7: Chitwan police is clueless about 'the biggest ever jewellery shop' robbery that took place on Thursday night.  


Three kilograms of gold, 10 kilograms of silver and Rs 700,000 in cash were stolen from the shop near Shahid Chowk in Narayangadh four day ago. 


Aadhunik Sunchandi Pasal located at Sahidchowk in Bharatpur Sub-metropolitan City is a 40-year-old jewellery shop.

Bikash Verma, the owner of the jewellery shop, had closed the shop at 6:45 pm on Thursday to attend a wedding ceremony.


The shop had already been robbed when Govinda Verma, the younger brother of Bikash Verma, opened it on Friday morning. 


According to police, the robbers broke into the shop and decamped with gold, silver along with the cash. To hide the evidence, the thieves also took away the CCTV footage.


Property worth around Rs 10.7 million has been stolen from the shop.


A team led by DSP Dipak Shrestha is investing the case.


The shop has as many as16 goldsmiths and eight salesmen.
