KATHMANDU, March 11: Police are investigating an incident involving the assault of former Armed Police Force AIG Thakur Mohan Shrestha, who is also an executive committee member of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). The assault took place as Shrestha was leaving the office of RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden at the party’s central office in Dhumbarahi on Sunday morning. Shrestha has filed a complaint with the Maharajgunj Police Circle regarding the incident.
SP Nabaraj Adhikari, spokesperson for the District Police Range, Kathmandu, said that a complaint has been received and an investigation is underway.
Shrestha was followed by some young men when he came out of Lingden's office. While he tried to escape, he was beaten at the door.

Later, the leaders, including Buddhiman Tamang, intervened and stopped the attack. One of the leaders said that it is not clear who the attackers are and why they attacked Shrestha.
According to RPP Spokesperson Mohan Shrestha, police are investigating the incident. “An application has been submitted to the police and they will conduct an investigation,” he said.
On Sunday morning, the video of the assault at the RPP office was also released.
The RPP has made it clear that it will not join the new coalition government. The party has been demanding the restoration of monarchy and Hindu state in Nepal.
