Police tighten security check in highways

DHADING, Dec 3: With second phase elections taking place in another four days, traffic police has toughened vehicle security check in highways. The move comes after two Indians heading to Kathmandu were arrested from Khanikhola, Dhading with explosive devices.

DHADING, Dec 3: With second phase elections taking place in another four days, traffic police has toughened vehicle security check in highways. The move comes after two Indians heading to Kathmandu were arrested from Khanikhola, Dhading with explosive devices.


“As people are increasingly sneaking explosive devices into valley, we have toughened up in security checks,” SP Dhrub Raj Raut said adding that the check also was aimed to reduce road accidents.

Plain clothed police has been deployed at Tribhuwan and Prithvi highway and heavy security forces have been mobilized at Nagdhunga.


To avoid anti election campaigns and unwanted incidents, police have stepped up security check. “We’ve found that explosive devices have been smuggled especially from Indian load carrier vehicles to Nepal,” Jayaram Pudasaini, chief at Area Traffic Police Office, Khanikhola said.
