Police tops taekwondo fight category

KATHMANDU, Feb 12: Nepal Police Club became champion in the fight event of the First Kathmandu International Taekwondo Championship that concluded Sunday.

KATHMANDU, Feb 12: Nepal Police Club became champion in the fight event of the First Kathmandu International Taekwondo Championship that concluded Sunday.



Police bagged three gold, four silver and two bronze medals while runner-up of the event Yeti Dojang won two golds. Visiting team from Bhutan claimed third position in the event with one gold, three silver and two bronze medals. 


Similarly in the cadet category, host United Dojang snatched five golds and two bronzes to become champion while visiting team from India bagged three golds and five silvers to remain in the second place. Likewise, Sitapaila Dojang won three golds and two silvers to remain in the third place.

In the junior event, visiting team from India became champion with four golds, one silvers and three bronzes while runner-up of the event Sitapaila Dojang snatched three golds, two silvers and three bronzes. Koteshwar dojang bagged two golds, two silvers and six bronzes to claim the third position in the event.  


Altogether 900 players from nine nations had competed for 312 medals.
