Postponed election in Saptari to take place again on Sunday

SAPTARI, May 14: Voting process that was suspended at two polling centers at Janata Secondary School polling station, Hariraha of Dakeshwori Municipality-2 in Saptari district following disputes would take place on Sunday.

SAPTARI, May 14: Voting process that was suspended at two polling centers at Janata Secondary School polling station, Hariraha of Dakeshwori Municipality-2 in Saptari district following disputes would take place on Sunday.


An all-party meeting held at the polling station in the presence of election officer of Dakneshwori municipality, Sambhunath Magar, Joint-Secretary at the Ministry of Law Phanindra Gautam, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Saptari, Madhav Prasad Kafle and Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police Force (APF) on Friday decided to conduct the voting from 7AM Sunday.

The voting was postponed after locals manhandled the polling officer Bipin Yadav over a dispute that arose in the course of the voting and vandalized ballot boxes. 


DSP Kafle said that locals smashed the ballot box and scattered the ballot papers after police personnel tried to save the polling officer. Polling officer Yadav is receiving treatment at Rajbiraj-based Chhinnamasta Hospital.
