A meeting to discuss his nomination was initially scheduled for 11 AM, but was postponed to 5 PM after Pradhan's withdrawal request. The committee had received multiple complaints accusing Pradhan of sexual misconduct, which questioned Pradhan's suitability for the role. These allegations included a claim of sexual exploitation involving a court settlement and a payment check. The committee concluded that Pradhan did not meet the required criteria of ‘high moral character’ for the position.
