KATHMANDU, Feb 13: A protest program organized by a group led by the controversial medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai is being held in the Kathmandu Valley today as part of the 'Saving Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture, and Citizen Rescue Campaign.'

The campaign commenced last year on Falgun 1 in the presence of the former King Gyanendra Shah's family. The group has been advocating for the restoration of monarchy and the reinstatement of Nepal as a Hindu state.

The Prasain-led group has announced a program at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu, along with planned demonstrations in various seven locations in the Kathmandu Valley. Former King Gyanendra Shah was also invited to address the event.

However, there are reports that the former monarch expressed inability to attend the program as he is currently in Chitwan. The Prasai-led group has claimed that citizens from all over the country have arrived in Kathmandu to participate in the rally.

Before converging at Bhrikutimandap, the Prasai-led group plans to commence their rally from seven different locations within Kathmandu. The group, which has been campaigning against high-interest rates, has said that the rally will start from Kirtipur, Kalanki, Kalimati, and Tripureshwor in the first group, followed by Kakani, Gongabu, Balaju, Naya Bazar, and Ranipokhari in the second group.

The third group will start the rally from Swayambhu and walk past Tahachal, Dallu, Basantapur followed by Banasthali, Sohrakhutte, Thamel, Lainchaur, and Ranipokhari in the fourth group.

The fifth group will walk past Chabahil, Gaushala, Jorpati, Maitidevi, and Naxal, while the sixth group from Bhaktapur will walk past Koteshwor, Tinkune, Naya Baneshwor, and Maitighar. The Prasai-led group had earlier staged demonstrations in Kathmandu for a few days starting from November 23.
