President Bhandari expresses grief on Beirut explosion

KATHMANDU, Aug 7: President Bidya Devi Bhandari sent a message on Thursday expressing deep sadness on the loss of lives and the destruction of properties by massive explosion in Beirut to her counterpart Michel Aoun, the President of the Republic of Lebanon.

KATHMANDU, Aug 7: President Bidya Devi Bhandari sent a message on Thursday expressing deep sadness on the loss of lives and the destruction of properties by massive explosion in Beirut to her counterpart Michel Aoun, the President of the Republic of Lebanon.


According to a press statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Bhandari extended heartfelt condolences, deep sympathies and solidarity to President Aoun , the bereaved family members as well as the Government and people of Lebanon at this hour of tragedy and wished for speedy recovery of those injured.

In her message, she also expressed confidence that the ongoing rescue efforts will be successful and the situation will return to normality at the earliest.


At least 135 people were killed when the explosion took place in Lebanon on Tuesday.
