KATHMANDU, March 6: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has wished peace, prosperity and happiness to all Nepali sisters and brothers at home and abroad on the occasion of Holi or Phagu Poornima.
In a message of best wishes on the occasion of Holi Festival today, President Bhandari wished this festival encouraged all of us to weed out various social evils, anomalies and abbreviations, thereby preserving and conserving unique cultures of the country.
While noting that Nepali society is diverse linguistically, ethnically and culturally like the colors played during the Holi festival, President Bhandari said that such a distinct diversity embodies both our identity and strength.

"I am confident that a festival as Fagu Poornima would contribute to further strengthening national unity by enhancing mutual love and harmony among all Nepalis," read the message given by the Head of the State.
In a separate message, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has expressed his best wishes to all Nepalis on the occasion of Holi festival (Fagu Purnima), which is marked with fanfare as a symbol of victory of virtue over evil and a festival of familial and social ties.
The festival is observed on separate days in the hilly and Tarai regions in the country. In a message given today, PM Dahal has extended best wishes to all sisters and brothers at home and abroad on the occasion of Holi festival.
Likewise, the PM has expressed the confidence that this festival will unite all Nepalis for the cause of social justice, good-governance and prosperity, adding that this festival is established as a common culture with unparalleled unity among all regions, castes and communities in Nepal.
Such festivals embody national unity and country's sovereignty that such unique traditions, cultures and festivals form a foundation for social goodwill, unity and cooperation.
