Prez Bhandari summons Health Minister, inquires about Dr KC’s health

KATHMANDU, July 20: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has taken stock of the health condition of Dr Govinda KC who is on fast-unto-death since 11 days with demands of improvements in medical and health sectors.

KATHMANDU, July 20: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has taken stock of the health condition of Dr Govinda KC who is on fast-unto-death since 11 days with demands of improvements in medical and health sectors.



President Bhandari took update about KC’s health by summoning Health Minister and Health Secretary at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas on Wednesday.



The President attention was drawn following reports of deteriorating health conditions of Dr KC who is on a hunger strike at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH).



“President Bhandari asked Health Minister Ram Janam Chaudhary and Health Secretary Dr Senendra Raj Upreti on what they are doing to protect the life of Dr KC,” said Press Advisor to the President, Madhav Sharma.



In reply, Minister Chaudhary told the President that Dr KC was requested not to stage fast-unto-death, adding that the government has made arrangements for his treatment.



“We had told Dr KC that all of his demand would be addressed and had requested him not to start the hunger strike,” Minister Chaudhary replied to the President.
