Prime Minister should be prepared for punishment if he is found involved in corruption: PM Dahal

KATHMANDU, Aug 29: Parliamentarian Ashim Shah questioned whether the government would maintain good governance in the country saying that the government was not paying any attention to the fake Bhutanese refugees, Lalita Niwas case, Gaur incident and on the contrary, it was trying to protect the guilty.

KATHMANDU, Aug 29: Parliamentarian Ashim Shah questioned whether the government would maintain good governance in the country saying that the government was not paying any attention to the fake Bhutanese refugees, Lalita Niwas case, Gaur incident and on the contrary, it was trying to protect the guilty.


In response to which Prime Minister Dahal said, “Since the formation of the government under my leadership, I have been trying to maintain good governance. It is wrong to think that the government is paying attention only to protect its seat.”


He also made it clear that the government is providing necessary support for the cases in the courts to prosecute the culprits, emphasizing on the cases of fake Bhutanese refugees and others.


Stating that the government is committed to maintaining public governance and ending corruption in the country, PM Dahal also clarified that the prime minister is also ready to be punished if his involvement is found during the investigation.  


Meanwhile, Prime Minister Dahal said the government's performance is centered on the establishment and promotion of good governance, prosperity and social justice.

In his replies to questions from the lawmakers in the House of Representatives (HoR) session today, the Prime Minister said the government is committed to increasing people's access to public service and accelerating the development endeavors.


Sustainable and inclusive economic growth is one of the top priorities of the government and its activities are centered on the same, according to the Prime Minister who claimed that the government's measures have been able to drive the economy towards a positive direction.


As he said, positive indicators have been noticed in the economy. The Central Bank just on Monday revised the current capital loans guidelines and it is expected to have positive implications on the industrial sector.


He apprised the meeting that his upcoming visit to China would be significant in terms of further promoting bilateral cooperation, strengthening the economic ties and opening new transits between the two neighbors.


In another question, he said, a decision regarding the expansion and development of the capital of Sudurpaschim Province would be taken after discussing with the stakeholders concerned and added that the government had fully mobilized its mechanism to accelerate projects of nation's pride.
