The police started the alcohol control campaign because there were lots of cases of beating and insulting the members of the family after consuming alcohol. There used to be more cases of domestic violence against women especially after alcohol consumption by the male members of the family.

According to DSP Siddharaj Neupane, "The police have been active throughout the district to seize illegal liquor. With the liquor control campaign, there has been some reduction in domestic violence caused by liquor."

The police have actively conducted alcohol control and awareness programs in all nine local units including the district headquarters. The police coordinated with the locals to conduct raids on shops and houses that produced and sold hooch. With the help of the local people's representatives, the police confiscated and destroyed illegal liquor.

Chief District Officer Ramhari Sharma requested everyone to stop the illegal production and sale of hooch and said that the government has banned the production and sale of liquor at home as it is illegal. He said that the municipality and wards should create employment for the families who earn their living by producing alcohol.
