KATHMANDU, April 7: Lawmaker belonging to CPN (Maoist Center) Madhav Sapkota Subodh has proposed to make an annual budget implementation calendar.

Addressing the House of Representatives meeting on Thursday, Sapkota said that this is needed to end the trend of spending budget only at the end of the fiscal year. "I would like to draw the special attention of the government to do away with the weaknesses of the budget administration by making an annual budget calendar to spend a fixed budget every month and evaluate the performance of the related agencies accordingly," said MP Sapkota.

Stating that there is only 25.88 percent of capital expenditure even with only three months remaining in the current financial year, he said that on an average 60 percent of the budget is spent at eleventh hours of the fiscal year.

Recalling that only 20 percent of the budget was spent in the last month of the previous financial year, Sapkota drew the attention of the government to take care of this when bringing the budget for the next financial year.
