All districts of Province 2 border with India to the south and the Chure Range to the north. So as to protect the fertile land of the province, it is of utmost importance to protect the Chure Region. Secretary of Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, Megh Nath Kafle said that a total budget of Rs 1.3 billion has been allocated for the campaign in the current fiscal year. According to him, a minimum of 50,000 trees will be planted across the eight districts, on Friday, to mark the beginning of the campaign.

‘Trees will be planted across 1-1.5 hectares of land in each district,” Kafle said, adding, “So as to guarantee proper growth of the plants, they will be monitored daily for 15 days and if any of those trees do not survive in the time period, they will be replaced with new plants”.

Various provincial ministers will plant trees at various community forests of the province to mark the start of the campaign on Friday.

According to a minister, the campaign emphasizes developing greener cities, villages, roads, ponds, temples and river banks across the province. “The hope is to transform this campaign into the pride of Province 2,” he said, adding, “We hope to revive the slogan ‘Hariyo Ban Nepal Ko Dhan’ in Province 2 through the campaign”.
