RUPANDEHI, May 16: Chief Minister (CM) of Province 5, Shankar Pokharel, and Governor of Gansu Province of the People's Republic of China, Tang Renjian, held an official meeting on at the chief minister's office on Wednesday.
CM Pokharel informed the Chinese governor about the prospects and potentials of the province.
The chief minister also informed him about the future plans focusing primarily on Lumbini and other areas with great prospects to attract tourists.

CM Pokharel stressed the need to maintain historical bonding between the two nations for the mutual benefits of both the nations.
The chief minister also hailed Chinese support for Nepal's development, with a prime focus on physical infrastructures. After learning that the Gansu Province is one of the prime sources of apples imported to Nepal, CM Pokharel reportedly stated his expectation for technical support from China for apple production in the prospective areas of Nepal's Himalayan region.
Both the parties signed an agreement regarding bilateral cooperation and mutual benefits. Scretary Dhananjaya Paudel of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment of the province and Cultural and Tourism Director of Gansu Province Than Waitong signed the agreement in the presence of CM Pokharel and Governor Renijan .
The agreement also focuses on maintaining sister relationship between Rupandehi's Sainamaina Municipality and China's Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture (TAP). Sainamaina's Mayor Chitra Karki and Gannan TAP's Deputy Governor Shi Chanyan also signed and exchanged an agreement letter.
