BIRATNAGAR, April 10: Parshuram Khapung, the province chief of Koshi province, has called for the Province Convention on April 18.
The decision comes after 52 provincial lawmakers from the CPN-UML and Maoist Center, who withdrew their support to the Kedar Karki-led government, filed an appeal on April 8, urging for a convention to provide directives to the chief minister and the government.
Province Chief Khapung calls for new govt formation in Koshi
On the same day, Chief Minister Kedar Karki submitted an application proposing the convention on May 24, 2024, following the decision of the Council of Ministers.
After two days of consultations, Province Chief Khapung issued a notice on Wednesday, calling for the Province Convention to be held on April 18 at 1PM.
Spokesperson of the Office of the Chief Minister, Narendra Kumar Shrestha said that Khapung called the convention according to Article 183 (3) of the Constitution of Nepal.
