Itahari, June 10: Prime Minister and Purbanchal University Chancellor, KP Sharma Oli, has asserted that the Gothgaun area – where the varsity's central office is located – will now be developed as a centre of Nepali education.

The PM made the comment during a felicitations programme held at Sundardulari Municipality Gothgaun Northern Central Office by the Purbanchal University on late Thursday evening.

On the occasion, PM said it was not surprising that the varsity's central office was located in Biratnagar as it did not have a physical infrastructure in Gothgaun following its establishment 21 years ago.

Now the Purbanchal University occupies 805 bighas of land property and has its own huge structures in place at an investment of billions of rupees, PM Oli shared, adding that keeping its central office at a rented house in Biratnagar has now lost its relevance. He said that the locals of Gothgaun have no need to complain why the central office had not been located in their area.

The PM further claimed that none of the universities in Nepal will produce unemployed human resources from now onwards as the government was planning to introduce a 'substantive educational programme' to employ the talented youths in their own homeland.

Nepal has remained a holy land of Rishi-Munis (Hindu religious ascetics) since the pre-historic period while the great Hindu religious scriptures were written here, therefore the Nepali people should not forget this, PM Oli insisted. He added that the state would now provide the opportunity for skill-based education so that Nepali people will not remain far from the light of education.

I did not receive the letter the Gothgaun residents have submitted just to keep it in the closet, but I have taken it with an objective to usher in a dynamic change, the PM assured.

On the occasion, University's Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Dhanshyam Das, referenced the provision that the University will operate under the private resources and emphasized on the fact that the state must run the Purbanchal University as it was not in a position to withstand the expenditure.

He drew the PM's attention towards another fact that the University's Administrative Board has presented a proposal to the government demanding Rs 300 million for its operation.

At the programme, former House Speaker, Subas Chandra Nembang, stressed the political parties of Nepal should work together to face the challenges of implementing the new constitution to secure a beautiful future for the Nepali people. RSS
