KATHMANDU, Feb 25: Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to make the party’s senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel as the presidential candidate.
A Work Performance Committee meeting of the party held on Saturday morning decided to field candidacy of Poudel as new head of the state.

The decision comes a day after the eight-party alliance that includes NC, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist) and Janata Samajbadi Party, among others, decided to endorse an NC candidate for the post of new president.
The Election Commission (EC) has announced a schedule to file nomination of the candidate for the post of president today. The election for the new president is scheduled for March 9.
