Ramesh Limbu, Priya Rai win third round of KVR Stage Race Challenge

KATHMANDU, Feb 3: Ramesh Limbu and Priya Rai won the third round of the KVR Stage Race Challenge on Saturday.

Kathmandu, Feb 3: Ramesh Limbu and Priya Rai won the third round of the KVR Stage Race Challenge on Saturday. The stage race covers a total of 100 miles around the Kathmandu valley and the third round is 30 kilometers from Jhule, Sankhu to Ranikot in Bhaktapur.


In the men’s section, Ramesh Limbu clocked 3 hours 11minutes and 34 seconds to finish first in the third phase of the race organized by Trialmandu, which organised this race to promote the route used by the legendary Manjushree, who is believed to have created the Kathmandu Valley by draining out the water centuries ago.


Sujit Jarga Magar finished second with a timing of 3 hours 24 minutes and 32 seconds followed by Raja Mahatara who clocked 3hours 29 minutes and 28 seconds for the third place finish.

In the women’s section, Priya Rai covered the distance of 30 kilometers in 4 hours 5 minutes and 52 seconds to finish ahead of second placed Chhoki Sherpa (4 hr:05 min:59 sec) and  Nirmala Rai (4 hr:27 min:25 sec). A total of 96 participants including foreigners had competed in the race.


Nepal Olympic Committee’s Niraj Shrestha, chief guest of the event, handed over the prizes to the winners. Shrestha is also the treasurer of Nepal Triathlon Association. Special guest Surendra Byanjankar, president of Lions Club of Kathmandu was also present on the occasion.
