Rana siblings win girl's doubles

KATHMANDU, Sept 26: Rana siblings Mayanka and Mahika claimed the girls' doubles title of the First National Open Lawn Tennis Tournament on Monday at the Satdobato tennis court, Lalitpur.

KATHMANDU, Sept 26: Rana siblings Mayanka and Mahika claimed the girls' doubles title of the First National Open Lawn Tennis Tournament on Monday at the Satdobato tennis court, Lalitpur.



The duo edged past the pair of Bijisha Shrestha and Bhibuti Karki in straight sets of 6-3, 6-3.



The pair of Ira Raut and Abhilasha Bista stood second in the event which was held in round-robin format. Altogether three pairs had competed in the event.



Meanwhile, Mayanka and Ira have fixed title clash in the girls' singles event. Mayanka edged past her younger sister Mahika 6-0, 1-6, 6-0 while Ira eased past Bhagawati BK 6-2, 6-1 in the semifinals.    



The pair of Kamal Bhandari and Sri Ram Magar has made it to the final of boys' doubles beating the pair of Santosh Khatri and Aatmaram Karki 7-6, 6-4. Similarly, Samrakshak Bhusan Bajracharya and Anil Shahi's pair also made it to the final beating the pair of Anil Shahi and Shakti Sharma 6-3, 6-4. 



The boys' singles event saw Samrakshak, Santosh, Kamal Bhandari and Nabin Magar book ticket for the last four.
