A person convicted of child sexual abuse faces a prison sentence of three years and a fine of 30,000. But the court is yet to determine the actual punishment.

Earlier, the court had ordered that Pandey be held in jail as he awaits trial on the charge of raping a contestant in the 2014 'Miss Global International' competition.

The District Attorney Office, Kathmandu, had filed a case against Pandey on June 15, 2022, on charge of rape and sexual abuse. Pandey was accused of raping and sexually abusing a model for a long time.

The victim claimed that Pandey had been repeatedly sexually abusing her for six months by taking photos and videos of the abuse and using them to blackmail her through social media. Following a call for an investigation into the matter, police filed a complaint and began investigation into the incident.
