Rapid response team formed to address problems seen in foreign employment sector

KATHMANDU, Dec 18: The government has formed a rapid response team to check possible irregularities in the foreign employment sector. 


The rapid response team was formed under direct monitoring of the Director-General of the Department of Foreign Employment. The body has representatives from concerned bodies as members.

The Director of the Department is the coordinator of the team while representatives of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Welfare, Foreign Employment Board Secretariat, and Nepal Police are its members.


Similarly, the investigation officer of the Department is the member-secretary of the team. 


Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Welfare, Krishna Kumar Shrestha said that the rapid response team was formed to address complaints related to foreign employment, provide relief and rescue-related support and recommend compensation to those affected. 


The team will carry out investigations, issue necessary directives and recommend for further investigation if any service provider body, organization and individual are found involved in unlawful activities in the foreign employment sector. 


The team will work to make foreign employment activities systematic and dignified, effectively implement laws and immediately address complaints related to this sector.
