LALITPUR May 11: The Rato Machhindra jatra kicked off on Saturday, with the pulling of the chariot of the Rato Machindranath, revered as the god of rain and good harvest.
Following the completion of the construction of the chariot, the idol of deity Machhindranath has been installed in it.

The chariot of Rato Machhindranath is being taken from Pulchowk to Gahbahal. After passing through all the areas of Patan, the chariot procession will reach Jawalakhel, where the exhibition of the famous ‘bhoto’ takes place.
