Reconstruction of 30 heritages at Hanumandhoka Durbar area completed

KATHMANDU, Dec 26: The reconstruction work of 30 heritage sites located at Hanumandhoka Durbar Square that was damaged in 2015 earthquake has been completed. The reconstruction work, which was halted due to COVID-19, is now in full swing.

KATHMANDU, Dec 26: The reconstruction work of 30 heritage sites located at Hanumandhoka Durbar Square that was damaged in 2015 earthquake has been completed. The reconstruction work, which was halted due to COVID-19, is now in full swing.


The heritage site that was completely destroyed by the Gorkha earthquake is now undergoing rapid reconstruction. Among 70 heritages located in the Durbar Square area, only 12 were not destroyed by the earthquake. While the reconstruction work of 30 heritages has been completed, the work of a few other heritages is yet to be started. According to Hanumandhoka Herchaha Adda, among the 58 destroyed heritages, the reconstruction work of 25 heritages is ongoing.

Among the heritages of the area, Nasal Chowk, Rana-era White building, Faras Khana, Prithvinarayan Shah's bedroom, Tribhuvan Smriti Bhawan, Daegu Taleju temple are set to be completed in the next two years.


Similarly, the reconstruction work of ten avatars and Kastamandap has reached the final stage. According to Sandeep Khanal, head of the Hanumandhoka Herchaha Adda, 17 of the damaged heritages have not been rebuilt yet as new works cannot be started without completing the reconstruction work of the others.
