According to the measurements taken on Wednesday morning, 260,450 cusecs of water was flowing through the Koshi Barrage. To reduce the flow of water, 42 out of 56 gates of the barrage have been opened. The red light has been turned on due to high level of water flow and increased risk of flood and inundation in the areas downstream.

Similarly, residents living near the river banks and surrounding areas have been asked to remain cautious. The district administration offices (DAOs) in Sunsari and Saptari have maintained high vigilance in view of the potential threat the increased volume of water in the Koshi River could cause.
