KATHMANDU, Dec 4: India has remarked the seven-point constitution amendment bill registered by the government as an important step.

“As part of the ongoing efforts, the registering of the constitution amendment bill at the Nepali Parliament is an important step. We hope that all sides will remain closely engaged and the ongoing efforts would be concluded successfully,” said Spokesperson at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Vikas Swarup while answering a question on the constitution amendment bill during a media briefing on Saturday.

He added that India, as a close neighbor of Nepal, will continue to extend all support for Nepal’s peace, stability and accelerated economic development in accordance with the priorities of the people and government of Nepal.

The government on Tuesday had registered a bill for the second amendment to the constitution with the objective of addressing the demands of agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front.
