Renewal of labour permit from province

KATHMANDU, Dec 29: Migrant workers will now be able to renew their labor permits from the provinces itself. Until now, labor permits were being renewed from Kathmandu, the capital only.

KATHMANDU, Dec 29: Migrant workers will now be able to renew their labor permits from the provinces itself. Until now, labor permits were being renewed from Kathmandu, the capital only. 


The new provision is being made with the objective of facilitating services related to foreign employment. Accordingly, the Labour and Employment Office in province no. 2 and the same office in province no. 5 will begin providing labor permit and other related services from tomorrow, according to the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security.

The offices will start by renewing labor permits and monitoring the training and orientation provided by the licensed institutions. Also, they will be providing information and handlings grievances related to foreign employment, according to the Ministry spokesperson Dr. Narayan Regmi. 


Similar services will also begin from the remaining five provinces soon, as preparations for the same are in the final stage. As a result, the compulsion for service recipients to travel to Kathmandu will come to an end. 

Around 1,000 youth reach the Labour Office in Kathmandu to acquire labor permit and re-permit. RSS
