KATHMANDU, Aug 9: The Election Commission has said that the report prepared by the Federal Commission on Boundaries should be implemented by the second week of September to hold the elections within the deadline.

Speaking at an interaction with the stakeholders on Tuesday, Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav said the reports prepared by the Federal Commission on Boundaries should be implemented by the second week of September to hold the elections as proposed by the government.

“The Federal Commission on Boundaries has not submitted its report yet,” he said, “the report should be implemented by the second week of September to hold the elections within the set deadline.”

The Election Commission has also urged the Legislature-Parliament to endorse the bill on the election of the House of Representatives. Similarly, Yadav also said that he has already submitted as many as six bills related to the forth-coming elections to the government.

“The report of the Federal Commission on Boundaries should be implemented by the second week of September to hold local elections by mid-December.”

Meanwhile, Yadav also urged the Legislature-Parliament to enact laws as soon as possible saying that the election of the National Assembly cannot be held before holding the local elections and without holding the election of the National Assembly, we cannot hold the federal elections.

Political parties have been expressing dissatisfaction over the lackadaisical modus operandi of the commission on the provincial boundaries.

The EC held talks with the former Election Commissioner, legal experts, and leaders of the political parties on this issue today.
