POKHARA, June 18: Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, Lalbabu Pandit has said that his ministry has prohibited retired civil servants from serving at NGOs and INGOs within two years of their retirement, claiming that secret information is often leaked in this process.
“High ranking officials should not be allowed to join an NGO or INGO within two years of retirement,” he said, adding, “This is important for protecting the nation's secret information.” He claimed that civil servants often sign a deal with NGOs and INGOs when in office which results in the leaking of national information.

Adding that it is important not to let the information leak, Minister Pandit said that the nation has invested in its employees and that the government has planned to create jobs for retired civil servants. “When civil servants retire from a special rank, they become advisors to the government,” he added.
Stating that 95 percent of the local units have been assigned a CEO, Minister Pandit said that the officials who are reluctant to go to rural areas will face action. “It is the duty of the civil servants to go and work anywhere they are stationed,” he said adding, “With the introduction of the new Civil Service Act, we will be able to transfer civil servants to different local units too.”“Civil servants should not hope to be assigned at offices that are favorable to them,” he said, adding, “If employees start to choose their offices, rural parts of Nepal will remain undeveloped forever. Civil servants should show as much enthusiasm while working in Jumla as they do while working in Kathmandu.”
