KATHMANDU, Dec 8: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the Jyapu community, known as a hardworking and honest community, is an integral part of the Nepali society and culture.
Addressing the program organized by the Jyapu Culture Development Trust on the occasion of the 19th National Jyapu Day, 2079 BS, Prime Minister Deuba said that the Jyapu community has made a significant contribution to the development of arts, culture and civilization in the Kathmandu Valley. PM Deuba said, "Jatra (festivals), cultural activities and art skills of the Jyapu community are invaluable treasures of Nepal. It is our common responsibility to protect the religious, cultural traditions, artwork, skills and lifestyle of the Jyapu community." He added, "It is the duty of all of us to preserve and keep alive such an important culture and civilization.”

Mentioning that the Jyapu community has made a special place within the Newar community due to its original art, culture and skills, PM Deuba recalled that the Jyapu community is also playing an important role in the development of the agricultural economy. Among the various communities in Nepal, the Jyapu community is a community with its own original and unique traditions, language, culture and identity,” he said.
"Through the National Jyapu Day, I believe that the contribution of the Jyapu community to the economic and social development of the country will be revealed to everyone, and it will help to protect and promote their culture, tradition and lifestyle," he said. PM Deuba expressed his belief that this day will also help in strengthening mutual unity, harmony, and tolerance between the Jyapu community inside and outside the Kathmandu Valley and citizens belonging to different religions, cultures, communities and regions.
PM Deuba mentioned that the efforts of the Jyapu community in the Kathmandu Valley to keep their original traditional culture alive despite the minimum economic and physical facilities are admirable. PM Deuba said that the Nepal government has supported the establishment of the Jyapu Culture Development Trust for the preservation of the culture and traditions of the Jyapu community.
