KATHMANDU, May 3: Public Affairs Section of the US Embassy in Kathmandu organized an interaction event on the “Role of Media for Free and Fair Election” in association with the Central Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Tribhuvan University to mark the “World Press Freedom Day” on Wednesday.
The event focused on the experiences shared by the six Nepali journalists, who were supported by the US Embassy in Kathmandu to travel and cover the recent US presidential election. A short video footage of their reporting tour followed by interaction on the recent media landscape of Nepal helped the large group of audience from journalism colleges and different media houses understand the importance of balanced reporting for free and fair election.

Speaking at the program Information Officer at US Embassy Ineke Stoneham urged the young working journalists and mass communication students to learn about the electoral process and do an in-depth reporting on real issues to support the larger audience to bring change in their lives.
Speaking at the program, Professor Chiranjabi Khanal and Associate Professor Dr Prabal Raj Pokharel urged journalists and journalism students to maintain integrity and professionalism while discharging their duties.
