Rotary National Convention begins

KATHMANDU, March 17: The 15th National Convention of Rotary Club District 3292 has started in the capital.


District Governor Jitendraraj Rajbhandari said that representatives of 155 clubs from 72 districts are participating in the conference.


Around 1,500 Rotary campaigners are participating in the national convention. Representatives of Rotary International Foundation also participated in the conference.

The club has been working in the areas of education, health and drinking water in the underprivileged communities. Rajbhandari said that the Rotary Club has given priority to the construction of girl-friendly toilets in schools.


The club has also launched a campaign to encourage girls to get education, taking education as the first condition for women's empowerment. Under this campaign, a club has made a policy to educate 10 underprivileged girls by adopting parenthood. 



The club has also prepared to debate various issues of public interest in the two-day conference to be held in the capital from Friday. Experts from related fields are scheduled to address the function. Issues such as education, health, drinking water, sanitation, development and peace will be discussed in the program.
