Rs 2.21 billion water project in Kavrepalanchowk

KAVREPALANCHOWK, Jan 16: Sunkoshi-Panchkhal mega drinking water project in Kavrepalanchowk district will come into effect soon as preparations in this regard are in full swing, said the project consumer committee.


Asian Development Bank has sent necessary documentation for the selection of contractors for the project following the completion of bidding last week, said Kumar Lamichhane, chairperson of the project consumer committee.

Investors of the Rs 2.21 billion project are the government of Nepal, the town development fund, ADB and consumers. Its deadline is two years. An agreement to this effect was reached on August 29, 2019 among the town water supply and sanitation project, the town development fund, Panchkhal municipality and consumers. A deep well will be dug and water is pumped through a water lifting technology.


A survey is being conducted to dig a road to the project site at Indrawati river at Bhumlu rural municipality-10 in the district. The consumers are required to collect five percent expenditure amount (approximately Rs 110 million) of the total project costs.
