Ruling NCP to mark CPN's 70th founding anniversary tomorrow

KATHMANDU, April 21: The ruling Nepal Communist Party will celebrate the 70th founding anniversary of Nepal Communist Party on Monday.

KATHMANDU, April 21: The ruling Nepal Communist Party will celebrate the 70th founding anniversary of Communist Party of Nepal on Monday.


The central secretariat of the NCP said that the party will be organizing a special event on Monday at 12 noon at Nepal Academy to mark the founding anniversary of CPN that was founded in 1949. NCP co-chairpersons KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal are scheduled to address the event.


Then Communist Party of Nepal was established with the aim of launching struggle against the autocratic Rana regime, feudalism and imperialism. The party’s founding general secretary was Pushpa Lal Shrestha.

Other founding members were Nar Bahadur Karmacharya, Niranjan Govinda Baidhya, and Narayan Bilas Joshi. The party played crucial role in the 1951 people’s uprising that eventually led to the overthrow of the 104-year Rana oligarchy in the country.
