Russia-Ukraine Conflict: 562 Nepalis cross Ukrainian border

KATHMANDU, March 8: A total of 562 Nepali nationals, who resided in Ukraine, have safely reached bordering countries like Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Molvoda following the invasion on Ukraine by Russia.

KATHMANDU, March 8: A total of 562 Nepali nationals, who resided in Ukraine, have safely reached bordering countries like Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Molvoda following the invasion on Ukraine by Russia, according to Chiran Sharma, Press Coordinator of the High Level Committee for the Support and Relief of Nepalis. 


While 443 Nepalis have already reached Poland, 78 have reached Slovakia, 24 have reached Romania, 13 reached Hungary while four others have safely reached Moldova. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has left Nepali nationals with no choice but to seek refuge in various countries bordering the conflict-stricken country.

Meanwhile, Kamal Pokhrel along with six other Nepali from Kharkiv city, who had been out of contact for the past several days, have also safely reached Poland, according to Secretary of the NRN High Level Committee Dr Chiranjivi Khadka. 


According to the Embassy of Nepal in Germany, which is concurrently accredited to Ukraine, accomodation and supplies have been prepared in various places for Nepalis fleeing Ukraine with the help of Nepali communities. The embassy is also holding talks with the Indian government to airlift Nepali nationals stranded in Ukraine.
