KATHMANDU, June 18: Challenging the directive issued by the parliamentary State Affairs Committee (SAC) to annul the recruitment process of government staff initiated by the Public Service Commission (PSC), a writ petition was filed at the Supreme Court on Sunday.
Claiming that the directive issued by the parliamentary committee is nothing but a serious violation of the constitutional norms and a mockery of democracy, advocate Rajaram Ghimire filed the petition seeking the apex court's intervention.

The petitioner also stated that parliamentary committees do not have the authority to issue directives to the constitutional bodies as per Section 242 and 243 of the Constitution.
The Secretariat of the Federal Parliament, the State Affairs Committee, the House of Representatives, the Ministry of General Administration and the Public Service Commission (PSC) have been named as the defendants in the petition seeking the annulment of June 11 directive of the SAC to the PSC.
Arguing that the order issued by the SAC violates Section 12 of the Employees Adjustment Act, 20017 which has clear provisions regarding the recruitment of government employees, the petitioner sought intervention of the apex court in this regard.
The petitioner also stated that parliamentary committees do not have the authority to issue directives to the constitutional bodies as per Section 242 and 243 of the Constitution.
The petitioner also sought the apex court's order to continue with the legal process to recruit staff in the concerned government bodies to fulfill the requirement of staff.
