Sandeep to CAN: I am innocent, please help me to fight legal battle

KATHMANDU, Sept 8: Sandeep Lamichhane, the captain of the Nepali cricket team, who has been accused of raping a minor, has said that he is innocent.

KATHMANDU, Sept 8: Sandeep Lamichhane, the captain of the Nepali cricket team, who has been accused of raping a minor, has said that he is innocent.


During the conversation with the officials of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), Sandeep has claimed that he is innocent. He also sought help from the CAN to fight a legal battle.

Sandeep is currently in the West Indies to play in the Caribbean Premier League. After the T20 series against Kenya, Sandeep reached the West Indies from there.


It is said that Sandeep will return to Nepal after the League. According to the case filed at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Gaushala, Sandeep allegedly took a girl to various places of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur for a visit on August 21, and raped her in a hotel in Kathmandu the same night.
