Saturday morning’s Pokhara-Jomsom flights canceled

POKHARA, May 11: All commercial flights in the Pokhara-Jomsom sector scheduled for Saturday morning have been canceled in light of the Muktinath visit of India Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Issuing a notice to airmen (NOTAM), Jomsom airport has informed all airlines companies not to schedule their flights on Saturday morning for Jomsom airport. According to Bhanubhakta Koirala, chief of Jomsom airport, the NOTAM has been issued for 6:00 am to 9:30 am on Saturday.

POKHARA, May 11: All commercial flights in the Pokhara-Jomsom sector scheduled for Saturday morning have been canceled in light of the Muktinath visit of India Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Issuing a notice to airmen (NOTAM), Jomsom airport has informed all airlines companies not to schedule their flights on Saturday morning for Jomsom airport. According to Bhanubhakta Koirala, chief of Jomsom airport, the NOTAM has been issued for 6:00 am to 9:30 am on Saturday. 


“Despite the flow of tourists we have to halt the operation for the India Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit,” Koirala said. “Jomsom airport has lack of parking so considering the flow of choppers and security of our guests we have issued NOTAM.”

Modi will depart to Muktinath on chopper from Kathmandu at 6:30am Saturday. After offering worship to Muktinath, he will return to Kathmandu by 9am in the morning.


Currently, Summit, Tara Air, and Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) are operating regular flights on the Pokhara-Jomsom route. Summit  and Tara Air operate up to five flights per day on that route, while NAC operates up to three.
