KATHMANDU, Nov 4: Saurya Airlines is operating direct flight services between the country’s popular industrial and touristic cities, Biratnagar ad Bhairahawa, from Kartik 22.
Chairpersons of the Airlines Board of Directors, Deepak Pokharel told RSS that the company has emphatically decided to operate direct flights between the two cities for tourism promotion. Also, there was a growing demand from passengers that also encouraged the Airlines to take the decision to this effect, he added.

Biratnagar is the capital of province-1 while Bhairahawa, having recently upgraded to the international airport, is a city close to the birthplace of Gautam Buddha. Earlier, there were no direct flights between the two cities.
The air travel between the two cities would take 53 minutes, shared Pokharel. Saurya Airlines has become the first airline company to provide service between Biratnagar and Bhairahawa and it would largely benefit the people from the Province-1 and Lumbini Province.
It may be noted that annually thousands of Indian, Bhutanese, and Myanmar tourists have entered Lumbini via Kakadbhitta and Biratnagar of eastern Nepal to visit the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha. “The direct flight service would end the compulsion of Lumbini visitors to stay in transit in Kathmandu. The foreign and domestic tourists can reach Bhairahawa from Biratnagar through direct flight and vice-versa”, Chair Pokharel further shared.
“It would save time and costs for the passengers”, he said. The airline has been operating domestic flights in Nepal for the past eight years.
