SC orders to release Pakistani national Abdul, repatriate him

KATHMANDU, Sept 4: The Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday ordered the Immigration Department to release Pakistani national Mozam Abdul Hai from jail.

KATHMANDU, Sept 4: The Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday ordered the Immigration Department to release Pakistani national Mozam Abdul Hai from jail.


A division bench of justices Sushmalata Mathema and Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma ordered the DoI to release the Pakistani national from the jail and send him back to his country.

The Pakistani national was in Nepali jail since October 7, 2019 on charge of staying in Nepal without visa extension. 


The DoI had charged him Rs 781,389 in visa fees and Rs 50,000 in fine for staying in Nepal for 823 days without visa.


The DoI had sent the Pakistani national to jail , sentencing seven years in jail after he failed to deposit the amount.


Abdul had filed a petition at the SC demanding his release and repatriation.
