SC seeks amicus curiae in ex-CJ Karki’s impeachment case

KATHMANDU, May 2: Supreme Court has issued an order to present amicus curiae at the court for the constitutional test of the impeachment proposal against then Chief Justice Sushila Karki registered at the Parliament Secretariat.

KATHMANDU, May 2: Supreme Court has issued an order to present amicus curiae at the court for the constitutional test of the impeachment proposal against then Chief Justice Sushila Karki registered at the Parliament Secretariat.


The constitutional bench comprised of five justices of the apex court has ordered Nepal Bar Association and Supreme Court Bar Association on Wednesday to present three amicus curiae each from both bar associations.

Acting Chief Justice Deepak Raj Joshi, Justices Om Prakash Mishra, Cholendra Shamsher Rana, Deepak Kumar Karki and Kedra Prasad Chalise of the constitutional bench have ordered amicus curiae, which is often known as ‘Friends of court’.


Likewise, the constitutional bench has ordered parliament Secretariat to present the document including the letter written by the secretariat to then CJ Kakri on April 30, 2018, to halt her duties after the registration of the impeachment against her at the secretariat.
