Advocate Bimal Pokhrel had filed a writ petition at the SC against the government decision to bear the treatment cost of leader Khanal, arguing that it was against Public Health Act, 2075.

The government led by KP Sharma Oli had earlier decided to bear Rs 3.1 million from the State coffer for the kidney transplant of leader Khanal in a hospital in Delhi, India. Nepali Embassy in Delhi had released the amount via Foreign Ministry to the ailing leader Khanal. He returned home recently after undergoing a successful kidney transplant.
