KATHMANDU, April 1: The two-day seminar on green, uplifting and inclusive development and green investment has concluded in Kathmandu. The seminar was held from March 18 to March 19.
In the seminar, ‘Municipal to Federal-M2F’, high-ranking officials of federal, provincial and local governments, senior experts, development partners and private sector stakeholders discussed the need for environment-friendly, sustainable, uplifting and inclusive development and the inevitability of "green investment".

Speaking at the event, Kewal Bhandari, Secretary of the National Planning Commission, urged the municipalities to put the marginalized communities at the center and mobilize the youth towards this by imbibing the concepts of sexuality, green development and skill-based entrepreneurship in order to ensure inclusive development.
Similarly, Dhanraj Acharya, Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City, who was the chief guest of the program, said, "The concept of Green, Uplifting and Inclusive Development (GRID) is the diagnosis and treatment of the current development disorders and is a reliable investment for a secure future. Pokhara, a unique confluence of nature and culture, is determined to make it a reality." He also discussed the 85 km long lake-to-lake cycle route developed in Pokhara with the help of the Sannava project.
Also addressing the event, Economist Dr Swarnim Wagle said that the global trend of economic and social development is aimed at the development of green character and the development of clean energy while preventing the adverse effects of climate change and addressing the energy crisis. “This seminar is very relevant for a country like Nepal which is the least factor of climate change but the most affected and suffering from its effects,” he said.
