"I was born in Birgunj. My mother worked at a local hospital. My father had a serious drinking problem. I have a younger brother. Unfortunately, my mother passed away when I was 13. My father was torn apart. We then shifted to Lalitpur. At the age of 13, I worked at Khajuri, Chapagaun and started supporting my family," said Sabitri, a 35 year-old gardener. Sabitri owns a Nursery. She got married to Ramesh at the age of 19 and they have two children - a daughter and a son. As she went through hardships growing up, she doesn’t want her children to be deprived of their basic rights. She makes it sure that her children’s demands are fulfilled. “It has been 10 years since I have owned the nursery. Initially, I was not aware about plants. Now I know them like the back of my hand. I have a good earning. I do not have to ask for money from anybody. I have supported my family and will keep on supporting my children,” said Sabitri.
