KATHMANDU, July 8: Several private schools in the Kathmandu Valley are reportedly flouting laws to operate classes, a government committee report has stated.
A monitoring committee formed by the Ministry of Education (MoE) has found that several schools were operating without registration while some schools were running higher grades without permission.

"Dozens of schools across the country and in the Kathmandu Valley were found running classes illegally," said a member of the monitoring committee requesting anonymity. The member, who is an MoE official, however, refused to provide names and details of such schools.
“We have also found that some people have been occupying school licenses,” said the official.
The monitoring committee has recommended the Department of Education (DoE) to take action against these schools but no action has been taken so far.
The District Education Office, Kathmandu has failed to update the status of the private schools, according to the DoE. There are some 1,500 private schools in the Kathmandu Valley and some 6,000 across the country.
