Shalin’s post-mortem report shows no sign of rape

CHITWAN, March 3: The post-mortem report of Shalin Pokhrel, who was found dead in a hostel in Chitwan, has indicated that she was not raped before her death as claimed by her family members.

CHITWAN, March 3: The post-mortem report of Shalin Pokhrel, who was found dead in a hostel in Chitwan, has indicated that she was not raped before her death as claimed by her family members.


Doctors at the Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu conducted the postmortem of Pokhrel's body after her family members demanded a post-mortem in Kathmandu. Police sources confirmed that the report indicated that there were no signs of rape.


Earlier on Saturday morning, 14-year-old Pokhrel, who was living in the hostel of Ekta Shishu Niketan Boarding School in Ratnanagar Municipality-15, was found dead in her room.

Her body, found hanging by a rope from the ceiling fan in the hostel room, was brought to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, for a postmortem as per the demand of her family members.


Following the teenage girl’s death, her family filed a complaint of murder. After the complaint was received, the police arrested the principal of the school, Balhari Devkota, 60, Vice Principal Kiran Bahadur Adhikari, 40, and the hostel warden Kamal Sharma Paudel, 48, on Tuesday. They have been remanded for seven days according to the verdict of Chitwan District Court.
