KATHMANDU, Aug 26: Chairperson of Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged all leaders to rise above politics to save daughters and girls in the country. Addressing the federal parliament today, Deuba, former prime minister, questioned the motive of the government's delay to initiate investigation in the Kanchanpur incident. He also accused the government of trying to save the culprit by framing an innocent.
He argued that the government had tried to suppress the protest by resorting to force. He also expressed condolence to both Nirmala Panta and Sunni Khuna, the latter who was shot dead in the protest. "When the government itself tries to provide amnesty to criminals, where will we head?"

Moreover, he also urged the government to curb soaring taxes. "Every citizen has an obligation to pay taxes. However, citizens must also receive facilities." He also urged the government to form the National Natural Resources and Financial Commission as soon as possible and amend the newly introduced civil codes.
In addition, he also accused the Oli led government of showing dual personality while appointing chief justice. "The government recommended a potential candidate from the Constitutional Council. However, from the Special Parliamentary Hearing Committee, it rejected the same candidate."
While Deepak Raj Joshi was recommended by the Constitutional Council, he was rejected by the Special Parliamentary Hearing Committee.
