KATHMANDU, Feb 1: Shinta Mani Mustang (SMM) resort, which is a part of the esteemed Bensley Collection, has earned its place among National Geographic's 'Best of the World' list, making it one of the top 22 new hotels for 2024. 


Described by Nat Geo as a haven constructed from local Baglung stone, the all-inclusive resort seamlessly blends traditional Nepalese architectural forms with immersive experiences such as monastery treks, archery lessons, and authentic meals with local families.


Shinta Mani, an international chain hotel brand, is operated by  Sherpa Hospitality Group under Yeti Group in Jomsom, Nepal. Shinta Mani Hotels has been operating luxury hotels in various places of the world and is a famous brand operating expensive hotels in the midst of forest and in the wild. 


The inception of the Shinta Mani Hotel brand is credited to American architect Bill Bensley, whose visionary designs have elevated the standards of luxury hospitality.

At 2,800m, the resort is among the few places in Nepal where giant Himalayan peaks can be admired at such a close proximity. About 500 feet below the resort is the Kali Gandaki River which flows downstream to form the deepest gorge in the world.


Its irresistible charm has captured many hearts like Miss Nepal Shrinkhala Khatiwada, who chose this ethereal sanctuary for her post-nuptial escapade. Indeed, numerous luminaries have found solace in the embrace of this retreat. Just like Khatiwada, many celebrities have opted for the sanctuary of Shinta Mani Mustang for their moments of reprieve and reflection.

The 29 suites of the resort are intricately designed to reflect the essence of traditional local homes, offering captivating views of the snow-capped peaks of Mt Nilgiri through floor-to-ceiling windows. Renowned designer Bill Bensley's influence is evident in the décor, marking this hotel as the first Bensley Collection property outside Cambodia.


Personalized Adventures


Visitors can join private treks led by knowledgeable local guides, allowing them to experience camping under the stars near the Tibetan border. They can also immerse in the spiritual realm of Tibetan Buddhism with meditation sessions in the area's many monasteries.


Traveling to the destination is an adventure in itself


One can start the journey by taking a domestic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara airport. From there, it is a breathtaking 20-minute flight to Jomsom. The resort also offers arrangements for direct helicopter flight, albeit at additional charges. 


Alternatively, one can also travel by road through the Kali Gandaki corridor exploring the rich cultural heritage and unique landscape of the entire region.


Pricing


In terms of pricing, guests can anticipate rates beginning at $1,800 per couple per night, with a requisite minimum stay of five consecutive nights.
